Some poplar trees develop hues of grain known as "rainbow" poplar, with blues, greens, purples, and reds. This leaves the wood with a beautiful rainbow-like color pallet. This particular piece was actually a piece firewood that I noticed in a pile of wood to be burned. It had sat long enough for the spalting process to begin, leaving some soft black streaks and greying in the wood, making this another truly unique and beautiful product! The Missouri black walnut finial really completes this piece. I focused on continuity of color and grain to ensure that everything lines up, making this piece truly stand out. These are often used to hold everything from jewelry to candy.
Finished in our jojoba oil and beeswax conditioner for an all natural, easily maintained, and food safe finish.
