Some poplar trees develop hues of grain known as "rainbow" poplar, with blues, greens, purples, and reds. This leaves the wood with a beautiful rainbow-like color pallet. This particular piece was actually a piece firewood that I noticed in a pile of wood to be burned. It had sat long enough for the spalting process to begin, leaving some soft black streaks and greying in the wood, making this a truly unique and beautiful product! These are often used to hold everything from jewelry to candy. I turned it so that there would be continuity in the grain and the rainbow color pattern. This piece is sure to impress!
Finished in our jojoba oil and beeswax conditioner for an all natural, easily maintained, and food safe finish.
