The piece of wood selected for this spoon was chosen for its rich color and contrasting spalting. The stim follows the natural path of the grain for strength, giving this spoon a simple, yet elegant appearance, not to mention a strong handle. You can clearly see the spalting area in the bowl of the spoon, giving the lovely dark contrast to the rich, honey colored heartwood. This utensil was hand carved, hand sanded, then finished in our jojoba oil and beeswax conditioner for an all natural, easily maintained, and food safe finish.
