This board is absolutely stunning! It was milled from a sustainably sourced Missouri black walnut log I discovered while "urban logging" or looking for trees that have already been cut down in residential areas. What a beautiful piece of wood!
I left the live edge on the charcuterie/cutting board for its appealing natural appearance. The wood transitions from sapwood to heartwood, revealing the full spectrum of colors found in Missouri black walnut. No stain is used on this product, all colors are naturally occurring. All non-live edge sides are routed and chamfered or rounded. This board was finished down to a very smooth 320 grit, then wetted down to raise any potential trouble grain, and re-sanded before we applied our wood conditioner. This means you will be receiving a low maintenance product that will maintain its beauty for years to come!
The size lends itself to camping, picnics, smaller living areas, or smaller displays, but don't misunderstand, there is plenty of surface area for food prep or charcuterie display!
Finished in our jojoba oil and beeswax conditioner for an all natural, easily maintained, and food safe finish. Hand wash only. Never soak or place wood products in the dishwasher.
