This bowl turned out absolutely beutiful! The tree from which it was made had been down for a long time, so I am not certain of the wood type, but I believe it was sweetgum. This bowl actually came from a log I was milling into tables, salvaged from a yard in Northeast Missouri.
The bowl is "twice turned," meaning that I rough turn it, allow the bowl to sit for 6 to 12 months, then then turn it again to ensure that it remains symetric and doesn't crack.
Finished in our jojoba oil and beeswax conditioner for an all natural, easily maintained, and food safe finish.
