This is one of my favorites! I turned this plate over 2 years ago as an experiment and will have to turn more of them as I love the outcome. Basically, I turned the profile of a bowl and left the top (or inside) solid. This created a hefty base to place a heavy cheeseball on top. I left a small ring to separate the cheeseball from the cracker tray. All of this was planned around the awesome bark inclusion that runs through the edge of the bowl, and left the bark from the live edge portion of the limb. I also payed a great deal of attention to the crotch grain pattern so as to expose the most grain detail.
This will certainly be a great conversation piece and an excellent addition to anyones party display! It is turned from Bradford Pear and finished in our jojoba oil and beeswax conditoner for an all natural, easily maintained, and food safe finish. I would reccomend placing a small piece of parchment paper under the cheeseball to prevent it from accumulating in the bark inclusion below (making for an easier cleanup).
