This beautiful dish has rich chocolatey brown heart wood and creamy white sap wood with an impressive grey transition line between the two. It was turned to display the variations in color that are common to black walnut, and a bit of live edge bark was left on for even more contrast. This bowl will make a beautiful and functional decor piece!
Finished in our jojoba oil and beeswax finish for an all natural, easily maintained, and food safe finish.
We do not stabilize our live edge bowl bark with chemicals like glues, epoxies, or varnishes. Our live edge bowls are turned from trees felled during the fall and winter months as the tree naturally adheres to the bark far better than trees felled in the spring or summer. It is possible that, through rough use or repeated exposure to water that the bark will detach from the bowl. In this case, the owner can reattatch the bark in any manner they deem appropriate (i.e. super glue).
